Fairfield University celebrates National Engineers Week with free IMAX event

More than 100 local students from area middle and high schools will attend a free screening of the film Dream Big, tour the Maritime Aquarium and attend engineering workshops led by Fairfield University students, as Fairfield’s School of Engineering (SOE) celebrates Discover E’s National Engineering Week (Feb. 19-25).

Engineers week celebrates how engineers make a difference in our world, increase public dialogue about the need for engineers and bring engineering to life for kids, educators and parents.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, the screening of Discover E’s engineering documentary Dream Big will be at the IMAX® theater at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Conn. The film, created in partnership with the American Society of Civil Engineers and presented by the Bechtel Corporation, takes viewers on a journey of discovery from the world’s tallest building to a bridge higher than the clouds and a solar car race across Australia. Dream Big shows more than the ingenuity behind these marvels — it reveals the heart that drives engineers to create better lives for people worldwide.

The event, which begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m., includes transportation to and from the Maritime Aquarium, all activities and admission fees.

Sponsored by Fairfield University’s School of Engineering.
