South Side wrestlers qualify 22 for states

South Side Wrestling had 25 place-winners at the State Qualifiers this past Sunday at Foran High School in Milford, with 22 grapplers qualifying for the state tournament to be held at Hillhouse High School in New Haven.

The champions and top seeds going into this Sunday are Dominick Spadaro (65 Intermediate), Maurice Ellis ( 87 Intermediate), Chefren Spodnik (160 Novice), C.J. Shea (98 Middle School), Mike Bartush (105 Middle School), Nehemiah Harris (190 Middle School) and Matt Weiner (210 Middle School).

Others that placed are Anthony King (2nd place, 50 Intermediate), Eddie Santiago (2nd place, 103 Intermediate), Jack Sisson (3rd place, 75 Novice), Warren Little (4th place, 85 Novice), Braden McDermott (2nd place, 112 Intermediate), Justin McGee (5th place, 85 Middle School), Jake Peterson (5th place, 120 Middle School), Jack Mullen (6th place, 136 Middle School), Joe Cardozo (3rd place, 91 Middle School), Gino Franciulli (3rd place, 105 Middle School), Brian De La Rosa (4th place, 105 Middle School), Connor Smith (3rd place, 112 Middle School), Breon Phifer (4th place, 112 Middle School), Pearson Hill (2nd place, 120 Middle School) and A.J. Deicicchi (4th place, 120 Middle School).

South Side spring session will be held at Trumbull High School starting March 9 for grades 1-12.
