Trust vs.Truthiness: Navigating the News

In a post-truth world flooded with information where you can choose your news, facts sometimes take a backseat to feelings. How can you find out the truth? Join librarians Matt Bernstein and Nicole Scherer for a fast-paced conversation about the dangers of fake news, and learn ways to cut through jargon and gibberish to get to real information. There will be two sessions offered on Monday, Jan. 23. The afternoon session from 3:30-4:30 p.m. is for teens only; the evening session from 7-8 p.m. is open to adults and teens. Both sessions will be held in the Rotary Room at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. Registration is requested.

Nicole Scherer is Head of Teen Services at the Fairfield Public Library. Matt Bernstein is the Reference and Instruction Librarian at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, Fairfield University.

All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free. To register, or for more information on these and other programs, visit fairfieldpubliclibrary.org, or call 203-256-3160. Follow the Fairfield Public Library on Twitter @fairfieldpublib and Facebook @fairfieldlibrary.
