McCarthy Vahey announces committee assignments, leadership position in House

Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey (D-Fairfield) recently was appointed to the legislature’s Education, Transportation, and Government Administration and Elections Committees. She also was appointed House Majority Caucus Chair.

“As I begin my second term, I’m pleased to continue serving on committees that address issues of great importance to my constituents. Quality public education and transportation infrastructure are especially critical to Fairfield’s economic vitality,” Rep. McCarthy Vahey said. “It is an honor to be appointed House Majority Caucus Chair, and I will work closely with my colleagues to put forth legislation that moves our state forward.”

“In her first term in the legislature, Rep. McCarthy Vahey quickly proved herself to be a hard worker and passionate advocate for her constituents and her community,” House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington) said. “Always a valuable contributor to her committees, Cristin has earned her new leadership position and I look forward to working with her this session to find solutions to the pressing issues facing our state.”

Rep. McCarthy Vahey previously served on the Education, Transportation, and Appropriations Committees.
