Browne to lead New England Town Clerks Association

Fairfield’s Town Clerk Betsy P. Browne was officially sworn in as president of the New England Association of City & Town Clerks at its annual conference in Boston, Massachusetts. The oath was administered to Browne by Vincent Buttiglieri, president of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

Browne will serve a one-year term as president and will host the 50th annual NEACTC Conference next year in Connecticut. In her remarks, Browne invited her fellow New England Clerks to the 50th anniversary conference “to celebrate our accomplishments, uniqueness, similarities and diversity while exchanging best practices, concepts and experiences that will increase the knowledge and efficiency of our duties and administration of our respective offices.”

Browne has served as Fairfield Town Clerk since 2005. She holds the prestigious Certified Municipal Clerk designation and is a Master Connecticut Town Clerk.  She is a past County Vice President of the Connecticut Town Clerks Association and has served on several CTCA committees.

The NEACTC promotes a closer working relationship among the municipal clerks of New England. It increases the proficiency of its member clerks by providing a medium for the exchange of information, ideas, and professional expertise as well as training and professional development. It also serves to strengthen the quality of local government by the promotion of the office of municipal clerk.
