Mill River Wetland Committee joins #GivingTuesday movement

To the Editor:

The Mill River Wetland Committee, Inc. joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement on Nov. 29, 2016, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. MRWC is celebrating its 50th anniversary and participating to raise funds necessary for future success as we continue to provide opportunities to educate, engage and advocate for our local and national watersheds.

The Mill River Wetland Committee, Inc. is an award winning nonprofit organization founded in 1966 to strengthen environmental science education through the study of river basin systems. This school year, we celebrate 50 years of our dedication to educating the students and adults of Fairfield about the watershed in which they live.

Mike Tetreau, Fairfield’s First Selectman proclaimed October 17 “Mill River Wetland Committee Day” in Fairfield and said that “MRWC has been advocating stewardship of the rivers and estuaries as they relate to the overall health of the environment since 1966.”

#GivingTuesday is held in the U.S. annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

MRWC is pleased to be part of this initiative and hopes to raise $5,000 during this event. We encourage everyone to join MRWC’s #GivingTuesday initiative, this year on November 29, and visit our donation page on https://www.razoo.com/us/story/Mill-River-Wetland-Committee.
