Snow delays schools Thursday

A late-season hurricane that devastated Fairfield Beach was followed Wednesday into Thursday by a Nor’easter that dumped more than a foot of snow on some parts of Connecticut.

Fairfield schools were delayed two hours Thursday.

As of 6:50 a.m. Thursday, United Illuminating reported 97 Fairfield homes and businesses without power as a result of 15 incidents.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy aid all state Department of Transportation crews and 632 trucks were deployed as soon as snow began falling to clear state roads.
