Fresh off his victory in his re-election bid for the state Senate, Tony Hwang (R-28), offered words of encouragement to his constituents.

“I am so honored and privileged to earn the trust of our community. It has been an overwhelmingly emotional process — added to the feelings from the surprise presidential result. We need to heal, unite, and move forward,” Hwang said.

Hwang will serve another term representing Connecticut’s 28th District which includes Easton, Fairfield, Newtown, and parts of Weston and Westport.

Both Hwang and his Democratic challenger Phil Dwyer are from Fairfield. Dwyer is chairman of the Fairfield Board of Education.

Following a hard-fought race, in yesterday’s election, Hwang received 22,152 votes, 58% of the vote, while Dwyer received 15,800 votes, 42% of the vote.
