Master storyteller spins a spooky tale at Pequot Library Nov. 13

Tom Lee, Master Storyteller Spins a Spooky Tale at Pequot Library on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 2-3 p.m. The program is for families with children ages 5 and up and all adults who enjoy a well-told yarn. Come in from the cold, gather near the fireplace and hear a master storyteller evoke the magic of witches and the season. Hot cider served. No registration necessary. Free and open to the public.

Tom Lee is a professional storyteller with 30 years of experience performing traditional stories, folktales, and myths for adults and for children. His repertoire offers myths and stories from cultures around the world; some are centuries old, some originated thousands of years ago. Lee performs at libraries, schools, and museums, plus in the National Storytellers Association, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and on National Public Radio. He specializes in traditional stories and ancient myths for modern audiences. He has been a roster artist with Arts For Learning, the Connecticut chapter of Young Audiences, and also with Connecticut HOT Schools.

Lee is the artistic director of artsVOYAGE at Spencertown Academy in Spencertown, NY, a unique arts-in-education program that uses performing and visual arts to enhance learning across the curriculum. As a frequent guest artist at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he brings together his passion for research, art, and story, continually connecting with new audiences of all ages.  In addition, Tom Lee is a performing arts partner with the Yale Center for British Art and the Metropolitan Opera Education Conference.

This program is part of Pequot Library’s Poe and Witches: Gazing at the Dark Side Special Collections exhibition, on view at Pequot Library through December 1, 2016.
