LETTER: Dru Georgiadis, advocate for Fairfield and Connecticut

Letter-to-the-EditorNEWTo the Editor:

I’m voting for Dru Georgiadis to serve as our State Representative for the 132nd District. We need someone like Dru to represent Fairfield: a compassionate listener, ardent fact collector and just plain hard worker.

Dru is one who is eager to help navigate from problem to solution. She knows how to research and do the due diligence needed to consider all sides.  As a friend of hers for nearly eighteen years, I’ve seen her throw herself into each and every project she has undertaken, whether it was her PTA  involvement in all three Fairfield schools her four boys attended or her efforts to examine alternate uses for the former Fairprene site, she backs her ideas and suggestions with action.

When Dru’s boys were young and her attention was on a town pool, she identified an opportunity in the Fariprene property. Her goal was to promote a for-profit, town-owned recreation facility that would have bundled existing services while expanding recreational availability. The business plan she developed was well thought out and practical.

She tapped many experts in the community and had asked for my help when I served as an environmental consultant. We drove to the CT DEEP, researched the environmental contamination issues to determine, if any, Brownfield redevelopment resources could be accessed. The plan was approved by Fairfield’s Land Acquisition Committee before it was ultimately purchased by a local developer and transformed into the current sports complex.

All this is to say that Dru is the one you want on your committee…and now we have the opportunity to have her advocating for us in Hartford.  She’s not afraid to ask the hard questions, roll her sleeves up and look at all the alternatives and do the work that needs to get done. You have issue and need help? Dru is there gathering all the facts to determine the best course of action and help implement the solution.

During storm Sandy, Dru helped cleanup flood damages of friends (in addition to her own basement) — she’s not afraid to get dirty, move the furniture (literally and figuratively!) and do what it takes to get the job done.

We’ve had enough of politicians. I’m voting for Dru in November because I know that she will work hard to be a great advocate for us in Fairfield and for Connecticut.
