Rep. Devlin earns CT business endorsements

Both the Connecticut Business and Industry Association, (CBIA) the largest business association in the state and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the premier small business organization in Connecticut, have announced their endorsement of State Rep. Laura Devlin (R-134) for re-election.

According to CBIA, Rep. Devlin made key decisions and votes, which helped support the state’s economic goals.

In a written endorsement CBIA wrote, “Laura has accomplished much in her short time in the legislature and has earned the respect of her colleagues in the business community. She understands the needs of her district and the importance of a competitive business climate.”

Rep. Devlin spoke passionately on the House floor in 2015 and 2016 on the need for the state to provide a reliable and stable tax policy for businesses, especially in light of General Electric (GE) leaving Connecticut.

“GE’s loss was preventable and should be a wake-up call for the state of Connecticut,” said Rep. Devlin, who was honored to receive the support of both CBIA and NFIB. “I stand ready to work together across party lines to make our state more business friendly.”

Additionally, NFIB, the national small business advocacy group announced that Devlin has worked both locally and in Hartford to advocate for small businesses.

NFIB said, “Your voting record over the last two legislative sessions on key issues important to small business indicated that you will continue to be committed to the needs of thousands of Main Street small businesses and their employees in Connecticut.”

Devlin added, “Small businesses are without question the backbone of our economy, as they are leaders in innovation, enterprise and job creation.  As a decision maker for one of these businesses, I understand firsthand the challenges they face. I will continue to work closely with small businesses in Fairfield and Trumbull and will continue to champion policies that help spur economic growth by supporting those who own and operate small businesses in Connecticut.”

CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, with thousands of member companies, small and large, representing a diverse range of industries from every part of the state.

NFIB is Connecticut’s and the nation’s leading small business association, with offices in Washington, D.C. and all 50 state capitals. NFIB gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business.
