Fairfield Public Library will celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning History Month

The Fairfield Public Library will celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning History Month in October featuring a week of curated events to enrich and broaden your knowledge of the LGBTQ experience. All programs will be held in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, October 25, “It Better Be Worth the Trip.” Trace the evolution of LGBTQ representation in youth literature in a fast-paced and fun conversation. Nicole Scherer, Teen Services Librarian for the Fairfield Public Library, will be hosting this program.  She has been a passionate ally and advocate of the LGBTQ community, particularly its youngest members, since she was a teenager.

Wednesday, October 26, Mind, Body and Soul:  Improving the Care of Trans and Gender Diverse Individuals.  Dr. A. C. Demidont from Circle Care Center in Norwalk specializes in transgender health will be speaking.

Thursday, October 27, LGBTQ Film and Television:  A Brief History.  What makes a film or television series gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender? What films are must-sees from each decade?  Reference Librarian, Philip Bahr will be presenting this program.  He manages the film collection for the Fairfield Public Library, publishes the Library’s film and television blog and is the resident Cut the Cord guy.

Advance registration is required due to the limited space.
