It has been an honor to serve our community for the past 10 years and I am proud of the work we have accomplished together. It is imperative, however, that we maintain focus on the critical issues facing our state today so that we may thrive tomorrow.

We must work to create a more business-friendly environment that fosters job growth and economic vitality, we must reign in government spending, reduce our heavy tax burden, eliminate unnecessary regulatory mandates and let businesses do what they do best — innovate.

As co-chair of the bipartisan Bioscience Caucus, I spearheaded legislation to position Connecticut as a world leader in bioscience research to re-energize our economy and create jobs. If re-elected I will continue to support investments that make a positive difference to our state and improve people’s lives.

Connecticut businesses of all sizes agree that predictability, sustainability and transparency in state government are vital to their success. That’s why I both voted against a budget that would increase government spending without accountability, and proposed fiscally responsible alternatives.

Of course, fiscal accountability is not an end in itself. It is important because when we have a flourishing economy and a balanced state budget, we are able to provide valuable services to those who need them and make investments that enhance our quality of life.

I am seeking re-election as state senator, 28th District, because I believe in the greatness of our state and country and believe that together we can create a more prosperous Connecticut.
