Eagle Scouts to be honored; Hwang to speak about public service

Tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 19), seven area students will receive public commendation on reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America while working and maintaining their status in The National Honors Society.

The 8 p.m. ceremony will be held at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, Fairfield.

The Eagle Scouts are:

  • Brennan Black – Fairfield Prep
  • Damian Chessare – Fairfield Prep
  • Dan Fitzgerald – Fairfield Prep
  • Matt McCurley – Fairfield Prep
  • James Thornton – Fairfield Prep
  • Ryan Cimmino – Regis High School
  • Aidan McLaughlin – Fairfield Ludlowe

Sen. Tony Hwang, who will attend the ceremony and speak about the value of public service, said the gathering will focus on the dedication, commitment, and hard work required to become an Eagle Scout.

“These students stuck together,” Sen. Hwang said.  “They reached the rank of Eagle because they are committed to their community and to supporting each other.  It’s an inspiring story of youth engagement, and we are so proud of each of these exceptional students.”
