Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival canceled

The Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival Board of Directors announces the cancelation of the 2016 Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival event, due to impending extensive structural renovations of the host location, the Historic Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road, Fairfield. This decision was made several months ago based on the pending restorations and the uncertainty of timing for completion.

The 501(c) 3 non-profit organization remains committed to its sole purpose of raising funds and awareness for local projects benefiting men, women and children in the surrounding communities. Since its inception in 1981, with a 100% volunteer staff, the Festival has proudly touched the lives of thousands of neighbors in need and has raised approximately $4 million for worthy charities to date.

The previously scheduled 2016 recipient, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, will now be honored as the 2017 festival recipient. The Bridgeport Rescue Mission serves the urban poor and addicted, offering hope and healing for a changed life by providing food, shelter, clothing, education and job training, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are funded by compassionate individuals, churches, business organizations and foundations.

The Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival will resume with a celebratory grand reopening Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2017.

Applications will be accepted in January 2017 for organizations interested in becoming the Festivals 2018 recipient; FairfieldChristmasTreeFestival.org.
