Ribbon to be cut at pocket park Monday

Corner of Reel and Oldfield roads spruced up thanks to Realtors grant

A ribbon cutting ceremony at the new pocket park at the corner of Reef Road and Oldfield Road, will be held Monday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m.

Upon receiving a $3,000 grant from the National Association of Realtors, The Greater Fairfield Board of Realtors partnered with the Town of Fairfield to locate and enhance a town-owned space for the public. A pocket park with new trees, benches and a winding brick path has been created at the corner of Reef and Oldfield roads. A garden is also planned for this site.

First Selectman Mike Tetreau will be joined by members of the Greater Fairfield Board of Realtors, including its president, Stephanie Barnes, and the project’s committee co-chairmen, Kristen DeLaurentiis and Michael Traum. Town employees who worked on this community project will also be in attendance.

The rain date is Friday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m.
