Halloween on the Green Oct. 30

The historic green behind the Fairfield Museum, known as the Museum Commons, will be the new location for the traditional “Trick or Treat on Safety Street” event on Sunday, Oct. 30. Renamed Halloween on the Green, the all-day event will feature games, crafts, entertainment and trick-or-treating. Halloween on the Green is free and open to the public. It is recommended for children up to 12 years of age.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the buildings and the entire historic Museum Commons will be transformed into a Halloween village full of places to visit and things to see and do. Exciting displays will be set up in the Victorian Cottage & Barn, Sun Tavern and Old Academy Schoolhouse. Children and parents are encouraged to dress up and join in the fun. A costume parade will take place at 2 p.m.

Dozens of community organizations are partnering with the Fairfield Museum to make this event happen. Sponsors include Newman’s Own, TownVibe/Fairfield Magazine, Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, Stew Leonards, Town of Fairfield, Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus Council 2616 & Father Coleman Foundation of Fairfield Inc. In addition, Willows Pediatric Group and Kids First Pediatric Dentistry are graciously providing trick-or-treat bags for all attendees.

Music and dance performances from Double Up Dance Studio, “Bob & Dave,” and Yoga with Maggie Taylor will provide entertainment throughout the day. In addition, the Chamber of Commerce will hold its exciting Market on the Green at the same time, in front of Town Hall, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will offer pumpkin carving on their front lawn. And if candy and treats won’t sustain you, food trucks will also be on site! Extra parking will be available at Roger Sherman Elementary School.
