Pink Pledge kickoff Sept. 29 in Fairfield

Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Health’s Norma Pfriem Breast Center will kick off its second annual Pink Pledge breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. The event begins with the Stroll for Strength, a walk by survivors, family members and others from the breast center offices at 111 Beach Road to the Sherman Green, where a short ceremony will take place, culminating in the activation of pink street lights in downtown Fairfield.

Pledge Pledge activities continue through October, with individuals, schools, fitness centers, restaurants, businesses, town offices and many others offering specials and hosting fundraisers to help raise awareness of breast cancer and support the charitable programs at the breast center.

Pink Pledge is co-chaired by Donna Twist, Executive Director of the Norma Pfriem Breast Center, and Marlene Battista, member of the breast center advisory board. Merrill Lynch Wealth Investment is the lead corporate sponsor. Other major sponsors include the Norma Pfriem Foundation, Miller Nissan and Bigelow Tea.
