Hwang, Kupchick & Devlin celebrate the 10th annual Heritage India Festival

To share in the rich traditions of India with area residents, State Senate Tony Hwang, and State Reps. Brenda Kupchick (R-132) and Laura Devlin (R-134) attended the 10th annual Heritage India Festival held at Fairfield Town Hall Green.

The event has been put on for the last ten years by the Hindu Cultural Center of Connecticut based in Stratford. According to the Hindu Cultural Center the festival has grown each year in popularity and appeal with Fairfield County residents.

Renu Vij started the community festival in 2007 in order to showcase the beauty within our Indian culture and to bring our community together, as Americans celebrating their cultural heritage.

Vij said, “The Festival is a much awaited event for the community to come together and enjoy and feel proud of our heritage. We at HCC are thankful to the Town of Fairfield and all our volunteers who help us make this such an enjoyable event. The Citation presented to us hallmarks this Festival for the community and enriches our motto “Unity in diversity”.

The Fairfield legislative delegation, Hwang, Kupchick and Devlin presented an official state citation to Renu Vij, the President of the Hindu Cultural Center (HCC) recognizing the Hindu Cultural Center for their contribution to the community.

According to the HCC, the festival was established as the largest ongoing Indian community event in Connecticut.
