Football: Stamford defeats Warde

The Fairfield Warde football team lost to Stamford High, 27-7, on Friday.

Coach Duncan DellaVolpe’s Mustangs were locked in a defensive struggle when the Knights turned defense into offense with a 21-point final quarter.

Stamford (2-1) took a 6-0 lead in the third quarter when Rich Scott scored on a 92-yard touchdown pass.

Warde (0-3) answered on a Jack Curtis scoring run from 31 yards out.

David Summers conversion kick gave the Mustangs a 7-6 lead in the final period.

Tyrell Diaz’ 1-yard run put the Knights in front. He then broke off a 57-yard scoring run.

Brenden Fahey’s return of a fumble for a touchdown completed the scoring.
