LETTER: Support for Dru Georgiadis for State Rep.

Letter-to-the-EditorNEWTo the Editor:

With signs now sprouting up on lawns in our area supporting various candidates in November, I am writing to express my support for Dru Georgiadis for State Rep. We often don’t know much about the candidates on the signs so, I thought I could provide some insight on Dru.

If I had to think of one person who would be best suited State Representative, it would be Dru. In fact, when I first found out about Dru’s run for RTM, the first thing that came to mind was why hadn’t she done it sooner? The answer, of course, was that she was tremendously busy serving the community already during the time her 4 boys were at school in Fairfield. Once they graduated, she shifted her attention to public office to continue serving us in other ways. We are lucky to have Dru on the Fairfield RTM, and we would be equally lucky to have her in Hartford supporting us at the State level.

Anyone that knows Dru is familiar with how highly involved she has always been with local community issues and adept at getting things done. I first met Dru about 20 years ago when we were both pushing our kids in strollers in the beach area. Our paths literally crossed with my 3 kids under 2 and Dru’s 4 kids under 2.  Since then, our children have gone through all the same public schools, Wakeman, Pop Warner, etc. (even now we have children together at the same college.) At each of those institutions, Dru rose to the top in a leadership role. She worked tirelessly at the schools through the PTA and even coached lacrosse at Wakeman. My reflection on this is that it was always a better school or team if Dru was involved.

When I consider that Dru could be pushing through our community issues and concerns in Hartford, I know we would be in great hands. My perspective comes from having been the busy working mom commuting on the train to NYC every day yet completely secure in the fact that the community our kids were involved in back home was being well served by the tireless efforts of many in the community with Dru often at the center in a core leadership role. I remain grateful for that and am completely confident Dru will be similarly behind all of us when elected to State Rep.
