LETTER: Trump poses threat to economy

Letter-to-the-EditorNEWTo the Editor:

The threat Donald Trump poses to our economy needs to be put front and center for the remainder of this campaign.

By every metric and the scrutiny of credible economic analysis, his proposals would start a crippling trade war, kill jobs, explode our deficit and cost our economy almost $1 Trillion – as reported by CNN Money, The New York Times and other major news sources this month.

Our local Republican candidates for State office (Incumbents Senator Tony Hwang, State Reps Brenda Kupchick and Laura Devlin, and State Rep Candidate Ray Neuberger) have refused to either endorse or repudiate Trump. In fact, they share/advocate for the same things, including privatization of services – which will put more people in poverty, generate less taxes and place higher demands on state aid.

In my book, silence is equivalent to consent.

Trump has been endorsed by Jamie Millington, Chair of the Fairfield Republican Town Committee, as well as Selectmen Chris Tymniak and Laurie McCardle. I am not comfortable having his proxies representing me either here in Fairfield or in Hartford. They certainly do not share my values and I call their judgement and governance into question as a result.

Most troubling is the fact that those who support Trump do so with the knowledge of his fiscal recklessness. This alone completely disqualifies them to be entrusted with our local and state economy or our future.
