Bigelow Tea Community Challenge to benefit local charities

The 29th annual BTCC (Bigelow Tea Community Challenge) 5k Road Race, 2-mile Fitness Walk and KidZone will take place on Sunday, Sept. 25, rain or shine, at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, Southport. The event will benefit 20 local charities.

Entry fee: $25/$20/$10.

Open to the public, events start at 9 a.m. More than 1,000 participants of all ages are expected to attend.

5k road race certified course takes runners by the harbor and historic Southport.

2-mile fitness non-competitive walk for individuals, friends and families of all ages

New KidZone – 100-yard Scamper, 1-mile Jog, FUN ZigZag, Hula Hoop and Jumping challenges (open to kids from Pre-K through 6th grade)

  • Babysitting by the Bigelow Staff & YMCA will be provided for the children of runners and walkers, free of charge.  

Open to the public, there are three ways to register:

  • Online 24/7 @ bigelowtea.com
  • On Saturday, September 24, from 9-3, at the Fairfield YMCA
  • On day of race at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, starting at 8 a.m. 
  • Nominal entry fees are charged (5K – $25, Fitness Walk $20, Kids’ Fun Run $10)
