The warning is in effect for all of Long Island, New York City, Southern Westchester County, Hudson, Eastern Essex, and Union Counties in New Jersey in addition to Connecticut.

Tropical Storm Hermine could cause hazardous weather, rip tides this weekend

According to the National Weather Service, Hermine continues to move into the Atlantic off the mid-Atlantic coast. A significant storm surge with moderate to major coastal flooding is possible around the times of high tide from Sunday onward. Hazardous seas, dangerously rough surf and a life-threatening rip current risk can be expected through the weekend and into early next week.

Rainfall of at least one to two inches with locally higher amounts is possible.
