Summer Reading Closing Ceremonies at Fairfield Public Library

Scavenger hunts and Olympic-sized fun and games will pack the Fairfield Library’s Children’s Room for the Summer Reading Closing Ceremonies on Friday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. This has been a record-breaking year for the summer reading challenge — “On Your Mark, Get Set . . . Read!” More than 2,200 children signed up to read their way through the Hall of Champions hoping to reach Gold Medal status.

Discover how many minutes participants have read together (already more than 700,000 minutes) and be there for the drawing of the grand prize raffle — a new bicycle donated by the Friends of the Fairfield Public Library.

This is a drop-in program for children in grades K-5.

Summer Reading ends on Aug. 20. This is the last day participants can log reading minutes in Wandoo Reader, but they will be able to access their reading list and account even after the closing date. Pick up all prizes before the start of school.

All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free. For more information on this and other programs, visit or call 203-256-3160. Follow the Fairfield Public Library on Twitter: and Facebook:
