Mother charged with leaving infant in car

A child left in a car outside a Fairfield supermarket was not injured, but the mother now faces charges.

Fairfield Police responded to Stop & Shop, 760 Villa Ave., Monday, July 25, after being informed an infant was unattended inside a vehicle.

Police found that a mother, not identified in a press release, left her 7-month-old in side the vehicle as she went inside.

The mother was charged with leaving a child under 12 unsupervised in a motor vehicle.

The Connecticut Department of Children and Families was notified.

Fairfield Police used the incident to remind the public of the dangers of leaving a child unsupervised and inside of a vehicle, particularly during the summer months.
