LETTER: Thank you Fairfield!

Letter-to-the-EditorNEWTo the Editor:

Thank you Fairfield! Because of the generosity of so many wonderful businesses, volunteers and attendees, our 81st Annual Dogwood Festival was, despite the weather, a terrific success. From the ballet luncheon to the pre school mini dash, the burgers and the baseball throws, our spirits could not be dampened by rain and in the end the sun shone on a spectacular Mothers’ Day tradition!

Because of YOU ALL, it is the people in and around our town who will reap the benefits all year long, as all net proceeds are donated to charities such as Operation Hope, Appalachia Service Project (where we currently have over 200 youth & adult volunteers helping re-build multiple devastated communities), the Mercy Learning Center and Near and Far Aid.

With loyal and deeply committed sponsors like Al Filippone Associates/William Raveis Real Estate, Fairfield County Bank, Pella Windows, Hearst Media & First Student Fairfield, and numerous others, our festival continues to spread goodwill and charity near and far. We are pleased that The Dogwood Festival is a time honored tradition in the hearts of so many, young and old.

Love a great bargain? We know you found one at Kate’s Corner and Kate’s Clothing. Admire art work? Our town’s talented teachers and artists displayed their original pieces with town pride.

Our committee and their volunteers spent countless hours working in an effort to raise thousands for those in need. WOW! We are honored and humbled by their work and generosity.

Thank You all.

Missed it? No worries! Save the date in your calendars now — May 12-14 — for Mother’s Day 2017, and join us as once again, we DO GOOD AT THE DOGWOOD!

With gratitude,

Kim Smith and Betsy Auray
