The Klein presents A Broadway Songbook Cabaret: 1940s & More

A benefit for After School at the Klein (ASK)

The Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport presents A Broadway Songbook Cabaret: 1940s & More to benefit After School at the Klein (ASK) and to honor Robert D. Scinto with the Jacob Klein Leader of Distinction Award on July 16, at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased online at theklein.org or by calling 800-424-0160, ext. 4.

The Klein announces this year’s recipient of the Jacob Klein Leader of Distinction Award, Robert D. Scinto. The Jacob Klein Leader of Distinction Award pays tribute to prominent civic and business leaders who serve the Bridgeport community with their own special vision. We are so pleased to present Bob Scinto with this award, and to honor him at an event that celebrates the hard work of our students and their dream of an artful and fulfilling future.

After the awards presentation (following Cocktails and Conversation, under the tent), an extraordinary cabaret performance paying tribute to the great hits of the 1940’s and more will feature Bridgeport’s own Maureen Hamill, with friends Simone DePaolo, Robert Fallon, Kevin Miller, Mary Richard, Kerry Lambert & pianist, David Harris. There will also be a special performance by our ASK students.

ASK is the cornerstone of The Klein’s education and outreach initiatives, providing tuition-free after school instruction in vocal music, dance and acting to Bridgeport’s most at risk students, those in grades 7 through 12. The staff is composed of experienced educators and industry professionals, and it all happens in the inspiring Klein Memorial Auditorium.

We ASK you to help this program continue to foster a vibrant, supportive, creative environment for Bridgeport’s students. Arts education is widely recognized as having a positive impact on ability to learn in school and succeed outside of school, building perseverance, focus, problem solving and communication skills. Your donations mean that more Bridgeport teens will experience the benefits of arts education, and that a more robust program can be offered. It’s a life changer for many of our ASK students, who come from 11 Bridgeport schools and all city districts.
