‘Imagine Connecticut’ aims to turn frustration into solutions for the state

This week Steve Obsitnik, the co-founder of Imagine Connecticut, talks about a summit this Friday and channeling frustration over the state economy, budget and transportation into action, solutions. Watch the show below:

Imagine Connecticut, a nonpartisan group that initially started with more than 250 business leaders representing more than 50,000 employees, is holding a summit to address the economy, budget crisis and transportation needs of Connecticut on Friday, June 10, from 8-10 a.m., at The Norwalk Inn, 99 East Avenue, Norwalk.

The Summit will include speakers on each of Imagine Connecticut’s key issues:

  • Economic Development: Catherine Smith, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, discussing retaining and attracting jobs in Connecticut.
  • Budget & Pension: David Walker, former Comptroller General of the United States, addressing CT’s persistent deficit and pension issues.
  • Transportation: Jim Cameron, Founder of the Commuter Action Group, discussing the future of transportation in Connecticut.

Obsitnik discusses the group’s mission and potential ways to turn Connecticut around.

Later, hosts Kate Czaplinski and Josh Fisher also break down the latest Q-poll results on Gov. Dannel Malloy’s approval rating, the Presidential race in the state and discuss local political drama.

Finally, Cartoonist Doug Smith gives his take on the week’s news.
