Fairfield dog owners are reminded to license their dogs by July 1

Town Clerk Betsy P. Browne reminds Fairfield’s dog owners that dogs six months of age or older must be licensed by July 1 each year. Licenses may be purchased at the Town Clerk’s Office, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning June 1. A current rabies certificate is required.

The fee for a spayed or neutered dog is $8.  If the dog has not been “fixed,” the fee is $19.  The first time a dog is licensed, a certificate of spaying or neutering must be presented to qualify for the lower fee. After July 1, a $1 per month penalty is added to the licensing fee.

To apply for the license by mail, send the required certificates to Betsy P. Browne, Town Clerk, 611 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
