Dress for Success holds fashion fundraiser tonight

Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County will host its annual benefit, Toast to Success! a fashion fundraiser in support of its mission to empower women to achieve economic independence on Wednesday, May 18, from 5:30-8 p.m., at The Westport Inn, 1595 Post Road East, Westport.

“We are pleased to host this annual event,” said Joe Carbone, president and CEO of The WorkPlace. “Dress for Success is a testimony our community supporting each other, especially in this tight labor market.”

The evening will begin at 5:30 with appetizers provided by Garelick & Herbs, a spring fashion show courtesy of Talbots and Darien Sport Shop, a wine tasting sponsored by BevMax, silent auction and raffle, and recognition awards. The emcee for the evening will be DJ Brian Smith and music for this year’s event will be provided by Thom Adams, keyboardist with What Up Funk!

Models in the fashion show include; State Senators Tony Hwang (Fairfield) and Carlo Leone (Stamford), Jocelyn Maminta of WTNH and Beth Foster, host of WEBE108’s Morning Show.  Kylee Knoles, Caitlin Nuclo and John Craven of News 12 and Gary Feldman, President of U.S. Computer Connections and the Chairman of Stamford Chamber of Commerce will also be walking the runway.

The event is being made possible by the generous support of a number of local sponsors. Corporate sponsors for the evening include; Connecticut Community Bank, Xerox, Bic, Aquarion Water Company, Frontier Communications, MPI, People’s United Bank and Bigelow Tea.

“If it wasn’t for the professional women’s group in The WorkPlace’s ‘Dress for Success,’ there would be a lot of women that don’t know what they can do,” said Ertha Willis, a Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County participant. “It made me stronger.”
