Maritime Chevrolet overhauls facility

Maritime Chevrolet has broken ground on improvements to its dealership at 985 Post Road, seeking to create a “more welcoming atmosphere.”

“For years, we were hesitant to buy into GM’s Facility Image Program, asking ourselves, ‘Will it really sell more cars for GM?’ Then we came to the realization that it is not all about selling more cars,” Maritime Chevrolet President Peter Morley said. “The improvements that we are about to make will enhance our already award-winning customer service. We want our guests to have the best possible experience as soon as they step onto our lot. The renovations will make our dealership more inviting, comfortable and user-friendly for our employees and our guests. That’s what it’s all about.”

 

 

The renovations will include a façade with a drive-up service canopy and a new car delivery canopy, as well as a new parts boutique and a bright showroom featuring a customer greeting station and a lounge offering free wireless Internet and refreshments.

“I am looking forward to seeing the transformation as it unfolds,” Morley said. “More importantly, I am looking forward to seeing the reaction of all the friends that we have made over the years who have come to do business with us not because we have the nicest showroom or the best coffee, but, because they like how we do business. Now, they will have the bonus of doing business in a bright, up-to-date facility. It’s a win-win.”

Maritime is making what it called a significant financial investment it said will benefit the local economy. Not only will the project create jobs for the construction industry, Maritime estimates that the renovated facility will add four new full-time jobs and two additional part-time positions at the dealership.

“Some things will not change with the renovation,” Morley said. “Customers of Maritime Chevrolet will continue to count on friendly and knowledgeable product specialists, the highest trained technicians, and the best warranty coverage in America (GM’s Certified Pre-Owned Warranty and its 5-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Warranty).”

The owners of Maritime Chevrolet are celebrating 18 years in business, starting with a separate dealership in South Norwalk that closed in 2007 after the property was taken in an eminent domain proceeding. Maritime Motors of Fairfield opened at its Post Road location in Fairfield, in December 2006.
