State Police say they seized nearly 28 pounds of heroin, with a street value estimated at $1 million, when they stopped a car driven by Jose Adorno of Chicago (below) on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford Tuesday, May 17. — State Police photo

A Chicago man was carrying nearly 28 pounds of heroin when stopped by State Police on the Merritt Parkway Tuesday, May 17.

Jose Adorno, 50, is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond, charged with possession of more than one kilogram of heroin and possession of more than one kilogram of heroin with the intent to sell. His arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday.
