Bigelow Center seniors soon to see new patio

Fairfield’s Bigelow Center for Senior Activities recently received a visit from Bigelow Tea president and CEO Cindi Bigelow who, along with the Center’s director Teresa Giegengack, reviewed plans for the new 10 x 15 foot concrete patio that will soon be under construction.

For those who are already family with the Center, the patio will be an extension of the walkway between the gazebo and the front entrance, and will include an area for outdoor furniture and seating for seniors who are looking forward to enjoying picnics and outdoor concerts this summer.

The patio is made possible, in part, by a donation from the annual Bigelow Tea Community Challenge — the family-friendly fundraising event that takes place each September and is open to the public.

“This is so exciting,” says Bigelow. “The town’s seniors have always been near and dear to my heart and working to help provide a cheerful environment and variety of programs has always had special meaning to me. The new patio promises to further expand the services that our seniors have come to enjoy.”

Ever on the go and always seeking to enrich the experience for seniors, the Center’s director has even more plans in store.  Looking ahead to next summer, additional landscaping plans around patio area and a paver walkway that will include a memorial “donate a brick” feature for area residents are already on the drawing board.

For the seniors in Fairfield, life just keeps getting better and better.
