CT Audubon Center at Fairfield participates in Open House Day

The Connecticut Audubon Society announced plans to participate in the 12th annual Connecticut Open House Day — a unified celebration of the state’s diverse world of art, history and tourism. During this one-day event on Saturday June 11, The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Fairfield, along with more than 200 other organizations and attractions throughout the state, will offer free admission to visitors.

There’s much to see and explore at the Center at Fairfield which adjoins the 155-acre Roy and Margot Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary. This nature preserve, with seven miles of walking trails, raised boardwalks and bridges, offers access to varied land, forest and freshwater ecosystems. The one-mile Chiboucas Special Use Trail, with interpretive signs, accommodates wheelchairs.

The grounds also feature a butterfly garden and Birds of Prey compound, while the Center building houses live education animals and exhibits, plus the Nature Store.

In addition to free admission, The Connecticut Audubon Society will give participants a 10% discount in the Nature Store. To qualify for any Open House Day offer, at least one person in each visiting group must show a valid Connecticut driver’s license.

Sponsored by the Connecticut Office of Tourism (COT), Connecticut Open House Day is designed to broaden state residents’ awareness of Connecticut’s exceptional cultural and tourism assets, and encourage them to become ambassadors who share their discoveries with visiting family and friends.
