LETTER: Get our facts straight

Letter-to-the-EditorNEWBelow is a letter in response to the letter, “Disappointment in Reductions to Fairfield Public Works Dept,” published on the Fairfield Sun website on April 27, 2016.

In response to Rep. Wackermans comment: My only intention was to properly inform the public. Yes, the “increases in the budget were over the prior year’s budget.” That’s typically how budgets work. There’s no
finger pointing at Republicans, Democrats, the BOS, the BOF or anyone else. But our taxpayers deserve the truth.

With the uncertainty facing Fairfield in the upcoming weeks, I feel it is more important than ever that we get our facts straight.

For the record, as the budget stands now — prior to the RTM approval — not only is the six-wheel dump truck included, but both the Capital Paving and Road Maintenance budgets have been INCREASED, rather handsomely, I might add.
I feel that this was terribly irresponsible of the writer, who not only serves on the RTM but is a member of the Public Works Committee!
If she feels the need to publicly bash politicians, Hartford may be a good place to start.  In the meantime, please make sure of the facts so as not to mislead the citizens of Fairfield.
