Gas and electric assistance available until June 24

Terry Giegengack, Director of Human Services, announced today that there is still time to obtain assistance for gas and electric bills, providing the person or family meets the necessary guidelines.

The program is known as Operation Fuel, designed to help seniors, people with disabilities, as well as young people and middle aged people who may have faced a lay off or other crisis and need help.

Giegengack said “Fairfield Social Services is pleased to participate in the Operation Fuel Program. This is the first year residents may apply at the Fairfield location.”

The deadline for assistance for electric and gas bills is June 24, 2016. The maximum available is $500. Household income needs to be within 60% of the state median income.  For example, a one person household would need to be at or below $33,132. gross income.  A two person would qualify up to $43,327 gross income.  A family of three’s limit is $53,521. gross income.

For an appointment to apply, call Fairfield Social Services at 203-256-3170. They are located in the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities at 100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield.
