Bigelow Center gathers senior discount info from local businesses

Terry Giegengack, director of Human Services, announced today that Bigelow Center has organized a group of volunteers to go to area business/store managers, requesting information about any senior discounts they offer.

Also to be asked will be the amount (or percentage), what products or services are included, specific dates or times discounts are given, the age the business offers discounts to and whether identification is required to prove they are a senior.

The Bigelow Center will then compile the information for members. This is not a solicitation for advertising, nor are the volunteers “selling” senior discounts. At this time the project is just to collect existing senior discounts in town.

The Bigelow Center currently registers 2,700 members and looks forward to this information benefitting the members, as well as promoting local businesses.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to call 203-256-3166. If you haven’t been visited by a volunteer by June and wish to be included in the list, please also call the above number and give the information to the receptionist and we will be happy to include your business in our list.
The information compiled will also state that the information is subject to change without notice.
