Baseball: Fairfield Warde defeats Guilford, 3-1

The Fairfield Warde baseball team moved its record to 2-0 with a 3-1 victory over Guilford High on Saturday.

John Natoli pitched two-hit ball for six innings, with 12 strikeouts and one walk, before Owen Buhrendorf pitched the seventh.

Coach Brett Conners’ Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the home third when Buhrendorf singled and later scored.

Warde added solo runs in the fourth and fifth.

Natoli singled in the fourth and Alex Steele drove him home.

In the fifth, it was Jack Myers getting the RBI as Joey Deutsch crossed the plate.

Guilford (0-1) tallied in the sixth.

Myers had two hits, Deutsch tripled and Dan Debartolomeo and Bobby Lazar had singles.
