Devlin and Kupchick support local retired teachers

During an event at the State Capitol, State Reps. Laura Devlin (R-134) and Brenda Kupchick (R-132) met and spoke with retired Fairfield and Trumbull educators, and addressed how the state’s current legislative session is shaping up and what potential changes might affect the group.

The Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut (ARTC) is a non-profit organization of retired teachers that represent 16,000 members/affiliates and advocate for 33,000 CT retired teachers.

ARTC’s primary concerns center on the financial security of our pension and health insurance benefits.  The ARTC advocates for:

  • Maintaining their current pension system.
  • Securing full state funding of our health insurance premium account (HIPA).
  • Eliminating the state income tax on teacher retirees’ pensions.
  • Preserving the Social Security COLA by opposing the Chained CPI
  • Repealing the GPO/WEP.

Devlin told the group how she believes it’s important the state keep its promises made to our retired teachers.
