ITEX, a barter company, raises more than $300,000 for nonprofits

ITEX in Fairfield, a leading barter company for cashless business transactions in North America, announced scores of its business members from across the United States have donated more than $300,000 in ITEX Dollars, to charitable nonprofit agencies throughout the country.

The donations received from this breakthrough model in giving, allows ITEX members to funnel some of their existing barter funds to help companies who are already helping others in need. This allows charitable agencies to be able to purchase goods and services using donated ITEX dollars, freeing up cash for other mission-critical essentials.

The idea was unproven since it was based on ITEX customers having to reallocate some

their valuable ITEX funds — to someone else. “ITEX members indeed joined together to donate

their barter dollars to these needy agencies,” says Roger Boroway, owner of ITEX, Fairfield, Conn.

“The support received for this new concept in giving has been overwhelming — and the display of brotherhood has been truly warming”

Eleven organizations were chosen to launch this new venture. Three of those eleven are already using their donated barter dollars to help those in need. Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southwestern, CT, will be using their donated barter dollars to purchase valuable advertising in newspapers and magazines. Urban Surf4kids, of San Diego, Calif. will use their donated barter dollars to enrich the lives of orphaned and foster children. And Sophia’s Fund, of Marlborough, Mass. — another nonprofit, will use items donated on trade to create quality auction and raffle prizes, to raise extra revenue at their fundraising events. Sophia’s Fund is dedicated to helping families in their crusade against cancer;

ITEX plans to expand its reach in serving others through the generosity of its members, by adding to its rapidly growing roster of vetted nonprofits, across the nation.
