Fairfield Theatre Company announces latest concerts and films

Fairfield Theatre Company (FTC) announced three new concerts and a film festival this week. Member pre-sale started Wednesday, March 23, and tickets will go on sale to the general public this Sunday at noon.

This April, immerse yourself in the wonders of the ocean without getting your feet wet: The Ocean Film Festival Australia is coming to Fairfield. The festival showcases over two hours of footage taken above and below the water’s surface.

This carefully curated selection of short films document the beauty and power of the ocean, and celebrate the divers, surfers, swimmers and oceanographers who live for the sea’s salt spray; who chase the crests of waves; and who marvel at the mysteries of the big blue. Festival director Jemima Robinson says, “This year we had over 428 films submitted, we narrowed that down to a two and a half hour program and because it’s driven by what gets submitted it’s always vastly different every year.” There’s something mystical about the oceans of Australia and the Ocean Film Festival has chosen the top eight short films to display the intensity and wonder of the water. From kayak adventures to insane surfing to deep diving, these short films ranging from 5 to 40 minutes will fill you with fascination in The Warehouse on April 26.

After selling out StageOne four times FTC brings back Trevor Hall and his smooth mix of reggae, surf-inspired folk, and roots rock to The Warehouse on May 26.  Trevor broke through the music scene very early in his career, joining sold-out tours with artists such as Michael Franti, Brett Dennen, Jimmy Cliff, Steel Pulse, Matisyahu, and The Wailers. Trevor’s annual trips to India also continue to serve as a source of creativity and motivation for his music. To return a service to those whom have colored his music and his life so beautifully, Trevor uses donations collected at his live shows to help support an ashram in Allahabad, India, where underprivileged and orphaned boys and girls are given the chance at a better life and a traditional Vedic education. See Trevor Hall on May 26 in The Warehouse.

FTC is no stranger to the funky party that New Orleans throws and loves bringing the ageless energy up north. So, they’re delivering the spirit of the Big Easy in the form of Cowboy Mouth on June 4. Cowboy Mouth is pure New Orleans rock n roll. As frontman Fred LeBlanc said, “With every show, no matter where it is, we try to turn it into New Orleans during the middle of Mardi Gras. It’s an unique live concert experience. It’s like a southern gospel revival without the religion.” They’re a staple at Jazz Fest and make their inaugural StageOne performance this summer.

She sold out StageOne just in February and the feedback was irrefutable. Ana Popovic is coming back on June 9! The award-winning, hard-touring, guitar slinger blends smoking electric funk and slide guitar, jazzy instrumentals and a tight blues groove with soulful vocals. As Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top said, “Ana Popovic rocks the blues in fine, fine fashion.“
