Humanity Helping Humanity raises more than $1,000 for needy children

The first fundraiser for the newly formed Humanity Helping Humanity student run organization took place on Sunday, March 20. The Fairfield Warde High School Club ran a fundraiser bake sale that raised more than $1,000. All proceeds will be used to buy new clothes and hygiene kits for impoverished children in Hyderabad, India.

Cameron Luther was touched by the children he met in India while on a recent mission trip. As a result Cameron and over 30 Fairfield teens have come together to raise money and awareness through Humanity Helping Humanity, a club at Fairfield Warde High school.

Humanity Helping Humanity was recently started by Cameron Luther, a junior at FWHS, after he returned from a mission trip to Hyderabad, India where he interfaced and aided some of the neediest citizens both young and old. Cameron was especially moved by the extreme needs of the children living in the slums. Cameron felt that it wasn’t enough to try and help others through this visit alone, which was organized by Greenfield Hill Church in partnership with FOCI, a US-based non-profit working in India, so he came back and started Humanity Helping Humanity which both educates those involved and urges everyone to give back.

About Humanity Helping Humanity

After being devastated by the extent to which poverty has curbed Indian slum children’s potential, Cameron Luther, a local high school junior, founded Humanity Helping Humanity, a Fairfield Warde High School club and community organization comprised of more than 30 teen students whose focus is to reach out and help these children in need. “Naming the club Humanity Helping Humanity,” said Cameron, “expresses the need for humans who have been so blessed to return that very same blessing.” Cameron hopes that the organization will inspire everyone to make a difference in a child’s life today. You can help with a direct donation, annual sponsorship, or attendance and participation at upcoming fundraising events.
