LIBRARY: Education today, a parenting series program

Ron Berler, a journalist who has spent his career reporting on youth issues, talks about the current state of learning in America Saturday, March 19, 2 p.m., Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road. Included in his discussion will be the controversies regarding testing and the key role that parental involvement plays in children’s academic success. Registration is requested.

Berler is the author of Raising the Curve, the chronicle of a year he spent in a public school fifth grade classroom in Norwalk. He wrote a weekly kids issues column for the Chicago Tribune and served as editor-in-chief of NBA Inside Stuff, a pro basketball magazine for tweens. His work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the New York Times Sunday Review, Sports Illustrated, Wired, Men’s Journal and ESPN.com, among others. He lives in Stamford.
