Sherman School Parent Teacher Organization (SPTO) to hold fundraising gala

The Sherman School Parent Teacher Organization (SPTO) announces its 8th annual SPTO Fundraising Gala to be held at The Club at River Oaks, 2 Evans Hill Road, Sherman on Saturday, March 19, from 7-11 p.m.

Tickets, at $45, include a light dinner, glass of bubbly, dessert bar, live band, and entertainment. “All you can drink” tickets are available for an additional $35. There also will be two cash bars for individual drink purchases.

“The SPTO has been providing support for over 20 years to programs designed by teachers and parents to enrich our children’s experiences by going beyond the basic curriculum and making these opportunities available for everyone,” says Daniela Crompton, SPTO 2016 Gala Event Chair. “The primary source of funding for the SPTO comes from this single annual event.”

This year’s Gala will bring together members of the community and beyond for an evening of dining, live rock band (“Touch of Rhythm”), dancing, a silent auction, raffles, and more, with the goal of raising over $10,000 to fund SPTO enrichment programs. Past enrichment programs have included:

• 6th grade trip to Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC
• 5th grade visit to Old Sturbridge Village in MA
• 4th grade visit to Ellis Island
• 1st grade visit from the Pratt Nature Center “Critter Caravan”
• “AudioBody” show for all grades
• Internet Safety program; and more.

The 2016 Gala is business casual (no jeans, but no jacket or tie required) and open to all who are interested in helping the SPTO advance its mission of enriching education for the children of Sherman. This year attendees come from across the tristate area, and include business owners, town officials, parents, grandparents, teachers, and Sherman School administrators. Sherman School’s new Superintendent-Principal, Dr. Jeff Melendez, will be in attendance.

The event’s generous Platinum sponsor is Legg Mason Global Asset Management and the Scholars Choice College Savings Program. The Gold sponsors are Fazzone & Harrison Realty (Kathy Fazzone) and William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty (Irit Granger and Liz Martin). Contributions to the silent auction come from: Club Getaway in Kent, Daniella Mone Photography, Eagle Rock Day Camp, Farrell Communications, Kickaro’s Martial Arts & Fitness, Candlewood Computing, PolyTec Electrical Contractors, White Silo Farm & Winery, Sherman Chamber Ensemble, The JCC, Ridgefield Playhouse, FineLine Theatre Arts, Downtown Cabaret Theatre, Danbury Titans, Brewster Bulldogs, The Club at River Oaks, Structured Home Solutions, and many more.
