Team FTC has two winners at Stratton Faxon Fairfield Road Races

The Fairfield Theatre Company sponsored a team of runners in this year’s Stratton Faxon Fairfield Road Races. A record crowd of 3,530 runners finished the half marathon and 1,173 finished the 5K.

FTC was invited by race organizers to sponsor a team of runners. Team FTC raised nearly $13,000 to support its artistic and community programming.

Runners faced scorching heat in the 5K Saturday, June 23, and the half marathon Sunday, June 24, at Jennings Beach in Fairfield.

Lacing up their running shoes and hitting the streets at the 5K were Jacqueline Pola, who finished third in the female 20-29 age group, and Stephanie Pola, who was fifth in that category.

Running the Fairfield Half Marathon were Rosario Coronel of Bridgeport; Nancy Cook, Cindy Johnston, Jamie Miller, Joe Rog and Matt Terry of Fairfield; Carrie Friend and Joshua Friend of Monroe; and Dan Latham of Stratford.

“Alongside our top-flight team of runners, we are so pleased to see the outpouring of community support, said John Reid, FTC’s producing artistic director. “Sixty-three individuals donated to Team FTC and we are grateful to have received a $5,000 matching grant from the Fairfield Road Races. We can’t wait to do this again next summer. The event is one of Fairfield’s best.”

In addition to fundraising, FTC also raffled off memberships and tickets to the Cheap Trick at The Klein during the 5K and half marathon.
