Project Runway: Falcon Edition goes live March 20

Tickets are now on sale for the highly acclaimed 9th annual Project Runway: Falcon Edition scheduled for Sunday, March 20, from 1-3 p.m., at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

What makes this Fairfield Ludlowe High School event so meaningful? The beneficiaries of the fundraiser — the students — are the ones putting themselves on the line to make it a success. FLHS Seniors are the main event – family, friends, and classmates come to see them show off the new Spring styles borrowed from their favorite stores. “It’s rewarding to work on a fundraiser with our kids, not just for them,” explains Co-Chairs, Debbi O’Keefe and Suzie Schroeder. “Walking down the runway may seem glamorous, but it takes courage to face that big audience.”

The local retail community plays a huge role in Project Runway by loaning over 80 outfits for the male and female models. This year, models will showcase looks from the following boutiques: Apricot Lane, ASF Sports & Outdoors, Camillo Tuxedo, Capri, Dress Code, GAP, LOFT, Just Madras, Men’s Wearhouse of Trumbull Mall, Millie Rae’s, Splash of Pink. Chic teenagers donning clothing from these retailers is great advertising, but the process is truly a labor of love and generosity. Each store manages countless fittings with the students, and must part with their merchandise for at least 24 hours. “The kids and their parents support our stores all year long, so this is our way of saying thank you,” says Sharon Risley, Store Manager of Capri Clothing.

Project Runway: Falcon Edition is not only a fashion show. Guests are greeted with music by the beloved Close Harmony A Capella Group “It’s a terrific way to showcase as many students as possible in our largest PTA fundraiser,” explains Jim Accomando, PTA President. The event also taps into the talented students and staff from Ludlowe’s own Culinary Arts Department. Delicious appetizers and desserts, prepared and served by the students, are included in the ticket price and add a festive atmosphere to the afternoon. The Pantry generously donated the ingredients to make these gourmet treats.

As guests mingle before the show and during Intermission, they’ll also be tempted by an enticing array of raffle baskets, many of which are donated by the school’s sports teams and families. College dorm kits are a popular theme among the prizes, as are gift cards to Fairfield’s restaurants and shops. The raffle baskets are an important part of the fundraiser and contribute as much as 25 % of the event’s profits, alongside ticket sales and program advertising. “Whether you’re contributing a prize or buying tickets, it’s an inexpensive and fun way to support the school.” Says Liz Benyon

The catwalk extravaganza is emceed by none other than Headmaster, Greg Hatzis, who shares each student’s bio with the audience. His trademark charisma and obvious pride in his students is yet another factor in the success of Project Runway: Falcon Edition. Mr. Hatzis will not be the only adult on stage on March 20 – several teachers have kindly given up their afternoons — and their inhibitions – to join in the stroll down the runway. “Project Runway is a team effort – the staff supporting the students, the students supporting their classmates, the community supporting the school. It’s one of my favorite days of the year!” notes Mr. Hatzis.

Project Runway: Falcon Edition raises money for the FLHS PTA to support a variety of programs.  Although many of the clubs and teams run fundraisers throughout the year, there are very few events that solely benefit the PTA and the student body at large. This event has become a rite of passage for the Ludlowe Seniors and a tradition sure to endure for many generations.

Tickets: $20 for Adults; $10 for Students. To purchase tickets online: or print and mail form:
