Concert features music of coffee and tea

The Wednesday Afternoon Musical Club presents Coffee, Tea and We, a concert based on music about coffee. Learn about the history of coffee and tea as well as interesting anecdotes and quotes regarding our favorite brew while listening to such great hits as “Java Jive,” “Let’s Have Another Cup Of Coffee” and “Tea for Two.”

Did you know that JS Bach wrote a whole Cantata based on a young woman’s addiction to coffee? Or that the introduction of coffee helped bring on the Age of Enlightenment? Remember those old jingles for Folgers, Maxwell House and Chock Full o’Nuts?

The free concert is Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m. at the Fairfield Grace Methodist Church, 1089 Fairfield Woods Road, Fairfield.

Local performers include Joanne Kant of Easton. Donations accepted for scholarship programs. Coffee reception to follow. For information contact Joanne Kant at 203-261-9160.

The Wednesday Afternoon Musical Club is in its 118th year of providing quality musical performances and student scholarships.
