Warde to play New Canaan

The Wilton Warriors will carry a perfect record into the postseason, as eight league teams get set to take their shot at the FCIAC field hockey championship beginning on Friday.

The final seedings and match-ups were set Tuesday, as four games were played. Wilton shut down Danbury 3-0, New Canaan edged Westhill 1-0 in overtime, Darien defeated Staples 1-0, and Greenwich defeated Trumbull 4-0.

Tuesday’s victors ended up with the top four seeds for the FCIAC tournament and will host quarterfinal games this weekend.

On Friday, No. 7 Brien McMahon (7-4-1-1 FCIAC) will take on No. 2 Darien (12-1-0-0) at 3:30 p.m., while No. 6 Fairfield-Warde (7-3-1-2) plays at No. 3 New Canaan (10-2-1-0) at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, No. 5 Stamford (8-4-1-0) will play at No. 4 Greenwich (9-4-0-0) at a time to be determined.

Top-seeded Wilton, which is 13-0-0-0 in the FCIAC and 16-0-0-0 overall, will host No. 8 Staples (7-5-0-1) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
