Take a winter walk in the woods at the Larsen Sanctuary

Nothing is more tranquil than a winter walk in the woods, but underneath the quiet cloak of snow and frozen ground lies a hidden world of wildlife activity. Join Connecticut Audubon Society’s naturalist guide for a hike through the Larsen Sanctuary and uncover clues to a secret world that might not be noticed on a leafy summertime walk Saturday, Feb. 27, 10:30-noon, 2325 Burr Street, Fairfield.

Search the forest trails, meadows, ponds and marshes for tracks in the snow, a hole in a tree trunk, and other signs these silent, wintry habitats are still full of life and activity.

All ages are welcome (no strollers please). Be sure to dress for the weather conditions, and don’t forget binoculars.

Cost is $2 per person. Please register in advance by calling 203-259-6305, ext. 109.

Visit Connecticut Audubon Society’s website at www.ctaudubon.org/center-at-fairfield for a complete listing of winter programs and special events.
